The overall winners of the Rise Londonwide Youth Slam Championships has been on this year by the verbal acrobatics and lyrical gymnastics of free verse poets Onome Edgeworth and Stephanie Turner. Representing Kori Arts for the North of London, Onome and Stephanie have secured a 12 month mentoring deal with Joelle Taylor along with a professional development contract. The award allows them to work intensively on their poetry and their performance of it, at booking gigs, at learning how to facilitate workshops based on their own writing as well as looking at publishing and recording possibilities. They also won a home entertainment system donated by Paramount Picitres who have just released Freedom Writers, a copy of which was also given to all the slam finalists.
