As the Poetry Society heads towards its centenary in 2009, it looks set to confirm its place as a forward thinking Arts organisation for the 21st century with a new look website.

Launched today, Tuesday 5 December 2006, the re-designed website gives a much clearer overview of what the Poetry Society does in an easy to navigate way, features news and events from the very first page and rewards hours of browsing thanks to a rich collection of archival and resource material, from decades of Poetry Review to Poetry Places residencies to school work to competition winners.

There is also much more poetry content on the new site – in fact the first thing visitors will encounter is the Poem of the Month. Andrew Motion was commissioned to write the first poem to mark the launch.

The new look site has been under review since the 15 November 2006 and has been described as 'fabulous' and 'packed full of easy-to-find information' by leading literary organisations and poets.

Andrew Motion attended the event, fulfilling his reputation as a 21st century Poet Laureate, actively engaging with new technology through his involvement with the Poetry Archive website.
