If you’re an emerging poet, an avid reader, an enthusiastic performer or just starting out in poetry then the Poetry Society has something for you.
The Poetry Society has over 200 youth members aged 11-18. As part of a community they are encouraged to share their work, submit to our on-line magazine and enter competitions. Members also receive books, posters, a youth directory and a membership card which grants them discounts at poetry events, bookshops and our poetry feedback service.

The UK’s premier literary competition for young people and is open to anyone aged 11-17. Prizes include places on a residential writing course for 15 top winners, there are also books and Poetry Society memberships for 100 commended poets.

YM:HISTORIESYM is our online magazine showcasing poems by our youth members and giving you articles by a mixture of established poets and emerging voices. It also has a writing challenge in each issue to help your generate submissions for the next.

SLAMbassadors UK 2010 is now open for entries.SLAMbassadors UK is national performance poetry championship. We ask poets aged 12-18 to submit short videos of themselves performing their work before holding live semi finals and a London showcase event for the winners.
Winners also receive poetry society membership and workshop opportunities to help them further hone their talents.
See Further: Poems on the Underground Competition Commended Poems Announced We teamed up with Poems on the Underground earlier this year to find science themed poems to celebrate 350 years of the Royal Society. The Poems on the Underground editorial team have made their selection and ten commended poems can now be viewed on the Royal Society’s website. Three overall winning poems will be announced in October when they will be displayed on London Underground Trains.
